Class Construction

Horizon builds each yacht to International Standards and is fully certified by the world’s leading classification societies, including DNV, BR, LR and ABS. Horizon is approved to build to Flag Code with MCA (Lloyd’s Register 3), USL (Uniform Shipping Laws), NK (Nippon Kaij Kyokai) and CNS (China National Standard) and adopts SOLAS, MARPOL, CORLEG and MLC construction standards. As members of the Super Yacht Builder’s Association (SYBAss) and the International Marine Organization (IMO), Horizon stays abreast of building trends and industry regulations.

Performance

With 910 luxury yachts delivered in the past 37 years, Horizon places great importance on the efficiency and hydrodynamic capabilities of every build. With a solid background in Fast Patrol and Navy ship design, the Horizon R&D team excels at producing full-displacement hulls; semi-displacement with or without bulbous bows; as well as semi-planing, fully-planing and high-performance racing hulls. Horizon uses both the traditional Tank Test simulation and the computational fluid dynamic (CFD) analysis technique for all vessels to assure the maximum efficiency of each hull design.

In 2017, Horizon debuted a new bow design, coined the “High Performance Piercing Bow” (HPPB), on the FD85 and FD87 Skyline models. While alternative bow designs that feature protrusions work more efficiently at either high or slower speeds, the HPPB brings both efficiency at slower speeds and performance at higher speeds. The HPPB is included on all FD series models and more recently has been offered on other series models with great success.

This level of customization would not be possible without the talents of Horizon’s dedicated team of highly skilled yacht building experts, each of whom is qualified and specialized in his field.

Each Horizon vessel is subject to stringent and continuous inspections at every stage of the build, from initial lay-up, fit and finish to the final installation of engineering systems.

State-of-the-Art Facilities

Building a luxury yacht is a challenging endeavor; thousands of details are addressed during construction, and even the most minor design change requires in-depth analysis by an experienced team to ensure that safety, comfort, performance and delivery schedule are not compromised. Decades of quality yacht building experience allows Horizon to solve the inevitable challenges that arise with efficiency, innovation and professionalism. The Group’s state-of-the-art facilities embody the latest in technology, equipment and systems and are backed by a highly skilled workforce, including expert in-house teams who provide clients with support every step of the way. Focused on the future, the Horizon Group continues to improve its manufacturing processes and facilities, recently upgrading the PaR Systems 5-Axis CNC (Computer Numerical Control) routing machine; integrating Stereolithography (SLA) 3D printing for creating scale models of clients’ yachts; and expanding the Horizon shipyard to increase and streamline production as well as now include hull production, so that each critical stage of construction will be carried out in the same location.
